about

Sometimes as a songwriter beautiful ideas simply arrive with power ... and you hold on until they're written on paper. This beautiful song rode around with me for many years with only a promise to deliver one day. I never forgot that and sure enough .... the day came. I'm in love with this song.

lyrics

Somebody must have broke you bad
Took all the trust that you ever had
But I know you've been saving up for a while
Why don't you put you're best dress on
Forget about him, it's been too long
Let's give that pretty necklace a reason to shine
And cast not your pearls to the swine
It's too bad that love is blind
I've been here all this time
But you don't see me
I'm the right man that came along
And I know you're right, even when you're wrong
I'd take those pearls and give you a stone
That shines for all time
I'd court you in my Sunday best
Cross my heart and confess
I've been praying that you eyes would rest on mine
Cast not your pearls to the swine
If Jesus turned the water into wine
And gave sight to the blind
Then why won't He
Make you see me

about

Jeff Lane Tennessee

Combining soul-infused folk with a country-blues edge, Tennessee native Jeff Lane puts big stories to song from a common man's point of view. His style is like taking a ride in a '76 Thunderbird, ridin' shotgun with Bill Withers and Paul Thorn!
